Explore the unique world of Montserrat Palacios, an ethnomusicologist, soprano, and sound artist who blends traditional oral chants with experimental soundscapes.

Montserrat Palacios🇲🇽/🇪🇸 (Mexico/Valencia) is an ethnomusicologist specializing in traditional oral chants and sound anthropology. As a soprano, she performs with a variety of unconventional objects, creating unique soundscapes. Since 1999, she has collaborated with Llorenç Barber in bell concerts and other sound projects. She has authored three books on sonic identity and historical memory related to bells, and co-authored a book on sound art and experimental music. She directs “El cant del cantó,” a space for sonic creation and experimentation. Currently, she lives in Valencia, Spain, working as an experimental artist and vocal performer.
